Quick Facts

10 Seconds

Every ten seconds a child is victimized by abuse or neglect

Texas has 718 reports of child abuse per day.

Last year alone, there were 4,098 reports of child abuse in Collin County, averaging over 11 reports each day.

Between 2000 and 2009, the Collin County child population increased 81%. During that same time period, the number of children confirmed as victims of abuse increased to 152%.

A National Call to Action states that the rate of child abuse is ten times the rate of cancer.

Report suspect child abuse to 1-800-252-5400 or 911. To have even a single child victimized by abuse is too many. If we don't protect our children, who will?

Great things are moving forward at the Center.

We have been working on how we communicate our mission and purpose to the community, and in doing so, we have slightly changed our name, logo and mission statement.

Our new name is Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County.  By changing our name only slightly, we prioritize the work we do, while communicating that we serve all of Collin County.  Over the past several years, we’ve learned that some people thought that we were a county agency and that our primary funding was received by the County.

This simply isn’t true and we wanted to dispel that myth.

Our previous logo was created in 1992 when the organization was founded.  At that time, co-location of professionals serving abused children was a totally new and innovative concept, as was the idea of collaborative intervention in these cases.  The previous logo communicated well that we were all under one roof.  We have come a long way in 17 years, Our range of services has grown dramatically, as has the number of children we serve.  When we were founded, we were serving 10% of child abuse victims in Collin County, and now we offer services to 100% of the children identified as victims of abuse.  And these services are provided by a well integrated model of intervention and a fully represented multi-disciplinary team.

Our new logo was designed to communicate this message, and tells an important part of the Children’s Advocacy Center story in simple, visual terms. It borrows its shape from a shield, representing the safety and protection we provide for children. Inside the shield is a child with arms raised in joy, signifying the healing and support that are also at the core of our efforts.  The green color signifies life and hope.

All of the rebranding efforts were donated by Launch Agency, a very generous advertising and marketing firm and to whom we are extremely grateful.  – A special thank you
